This is an area of work that is best supported by sound inter-authority working. Where child or adult protection enquiries have been made in one area but the alleged perpetrator lives or works within other areas, there will be need for information to be shared between the two areas.
The Delegated Officer for Safeguarding must ensure that they share all information with their counterpart in the other Local authority. Due regard is to be had to the relevant data protection principles which allow sharing of personal information, as provided for in the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
It is usually the responsibility of the Local authority where the alleged abuse took place /concern arose to hold the Professional Strategy Meeting. After discussion between the Designated Officers for Safeguarding it will be decided and recorded which authority will be responsible for convening the Professional Strategy Meeting and the reasons why.
